How about reducing oil dependency from the Persian Gulf by 75 percent by 2025? Sounds like a good idea? Yes and no. Yes because it will jack up the presidents poll numbers, no because it only account for a net reduction of less than 0.7 percent a year for the next 19 years, in other words less than 13 percent of all oil imported. Any sensible citizen can save more than 23 percent a year by driving safe and slow, use cruise control (if available), avoiding excess idling, timely service of the vehicles engine and keeping the tires inflated as recommended.
