Grass is greener on the other side

On average, Americans spend more on lawn care than on charitable contributions each year. The sub-urban turf war has been officially “nationalized” and is deceivingly categorized as agrarian reform. Contrary to popular belief, pesticides are broad-spectrum biocides capable of harming a wide array of plant and animal species. Ever wondered why there are more people suffering from cancer in America than any other country in the world. The grass sure is greener on the other side, and I am not talking about my lawn.

Abortion

Some right-wingers seem more interested in saving the “yet to be born” than the ones who already are: - They are proponents of the capital punishment- a heinous way of ending life. - Encourage American military advancement around the world- resulting in civilian casualty in the millions. - Collaborate with dictators in regions like the Middle East and South America who deprive their citizens of basic human rights.

Native Americans

Why are only Indians referred to as Native Americans? Is it because it’s politically incorrect to refer to anyone born in America a native or is it more so because natural born American’s do not associate themselves with America? I asked my ex-roommate where he was from and he said "I am Irish", so I assumed he is from Ireland, wrong- he has never been to Ireland and more than likely does not know where it is on the map, I would have preferred the answer for the question to be 'Ohio' or 'Oklahoma.' Then there are those claiming to be ‘”African-Americans,” most do not even know where in Africa their forefathers were stolen from- I bet most African-Americans do not know that slavery is persistent in countries like Niger and Sudan even to this day. And if they did, what are they doing about it? So why are Indians Native and no one else? Is the alienation of oneself from the land they were born an admittance of guilt for the once bloody crusade against it natives? Or is it simply because they feel more connected to Europe or Africa than the United States of America?

Orange Anyone? Agent Orange

A Japanese study, comparing areas sprayed (Agent Orange and it’s dioxins) with those that were not, found children were three times more likely to be born with cleft palates, or extra fingers and toes. There are eight times as many hernias in such children, and three times as many born with mental disabilities. In 2001, scientists found that people living in an Agent Orange "hotspot" at Binh-Hoa near Ho Chi Minh City have 200 times the background amount of dioxin in their bloodstreams.
