Con-Trial

Two high profile cases have engaged the airwaves for the past week or so, though geographically separate, these case have a lot more in common that what it is made out to be. 1st, the Saddam Hussein trial, in which among other thing, Saddam is charged with the killings of 148 Shia Muslims from Dujail, who allegedly conspired to kill the then President Saddam. 2nd, the Zacarias Moussaoui trial, where prosecutors are seeking Moussaoui be punishable by death for allegedly conspired to fly a plane into the White House to kill President Bush. If you try assassinating the president of Iraq and in the process get caught and are executed, it’s Saddam’s fault, and if you think about assassinating the president of America, and get caught - you get killed? Obviously there is a double standard here. One of two instances has to be true, either Saddam had the same rights as president Bush in carrying out the execution of those who tried killing him, or president Bush is doing exactly as Saddam did in convicting to execute Moussaoui, and that is wrong, you decide?

"If it was a crime to refer for trial those accused of shooting at the president, then try me and save a lot of trouble," Saddam Hussein told the court.
